HULU SELANGOR: Missing teenager Nurul Aishah Farhana Azni has been found safe in Pahang a day after she was reported missing.
A 20-year-old unemployed man, believed to have been in a relationship with the girl has been arrested.
Deputy police chief Deputy Superintendent Mohd Asri Mohd Yunus said the girl was found in Triang, Pahang at 12.30am on Thursday.
"We have also arrested the 20-year-old male suspect.
"He is believed to have abducted her and brought her to a relative's house in Triang," he said in a statement on Thursday.
Mohd Asri said initial investigations revealed the suspect did not have a prior record and his urine test was negative for drugs.
He added that the suspect and victim were believed to have been in a relationship.
"The victim was believed to be having trouble with her family," he said.
Mohd Asri said the suspect has been remanded until July 27 to help with further investigations.
"We have classified the case under Section 363 of the Penal Code and Section 14(a) of the Sexual Offences Against Children Act for kidnapping and physical sexual assault on a child respectively," he said.
It was reported that the parents of missing teenager Nurul Aishah Farhana Azni lodged a police report over her disappearance on Wednesday
Her father lodged the report at the Batang Kali police station.
The 17-year-old girl was last seen at a restaurant in Bandar Utama, Batang Kali at 9.30pm yesterday.
She was in a black scarf, black trousers, a dark blue long-sleeved T-shirt and brown sandals.
Checks also showed that this wasn't the first time she had disappeared from home.
She previously went missing in January this year but returned home within 24 hours.
