KUALA KUBU BARU: The cousin of murdered 25-year-old Nur Farah Kartini Abdullah said their family wants justice for her senseless death.
Nur Farah Kartini's cousin, Suzursofia Smeth Jaya,33, said their family hoped justice will prevail.
"We are satisfied with police investigations which led to the charge today.
"We hope everything will go well and we will attend the next court proceedings," she said.
Suzursofia was met after police lance corporal Muhammad Ali Monjani,26, was charged with the murder of Nur Farah Kartini, whose body was found in a palm oil plantation in Felda Gedangsa in Hulu Selangor on July 15.
The families of Alif and Nur Farah Kartini attended the court proceedings at the magistrates court today.
They were allowed to sit at the public gallery.
Before proceedings started, a court police official reminded the families to control their emotions.
Alif was accused of murdering Nur Farah Kartini at Ladang SKC Keledang in the Hulu Bernam sub-district in Hulu Selangor.
He had allegedly committed the offence from 9am on July 10 until 6pm on July 15.
The charge under Section 302 of the Penal Code carries the death penalty.
He was charged before Sessions Court judge Nurul Mardhiah Mohammed Redza,who sat as magistrate for the proceedings.
No plea was recorded as murder cases are under the jurisdiction of the High Court.
State prosecution director Ku Hayati Ku Haron prosecuted while Alif was represented by lawyers Nur Aida Md Zainuddin and Aida Jaafar Mad Ariff.
The court set Aug 30 for mention.
