Missing teen found safe in Teluk Kumbar

BALIK PULAU: A 17-year-old girl who was reported missing since Sunday, has been found safe yesterday.

Southwest district police chief Superintendent Kamarul Rizal Jenal said the girl was found within the compound of a mosque in Teluk Kumbar near here by the public.

He said, based on the report lodged by the victim's father, the teenager was sent to the hostel of a private learning institution on July 21.

"The victim's disappearance only came to light when her family contacted the institution yesterday to ask about her wellbeing. They were told that she did not attend classes and was not in the hostel since Sunday.

"The father then lodged a police report.

"However, several hours later, the girl was found safe," he said when contacted.

Kamarul said the girl has been sent to the hospital for further checks.
