KUALA LUMPUR: Police are working to identify the person who allegedly shared classified documents with Bersatu's Badrul Hisham Shaharin, commonly known as Chegubard.
Kuala Lumpur police chief Datuk Rusdi Mohd Isa said they were investigating how Badrul obtained the documents.
He also said Badrul's arrest followed procedure.
"He has been remanded for two days, so we will see if we can complete our investigations within that time.
"If needed, we will apply for a remand extension," he told reporters after witnessing the handing over of duties between the new and outgoing Dang Wangi police chief.
Yesterday, it was reported that Badrul, a member of Bersatu's information committee, was arrested in connection to a police probe into allegations of corruption and bribery involving senior Royal Malaysian Navy officers.
He is being probed for giving false information under Section 203A of the Penal Code, wrongful communication under Section 8 of the Official Secrets Act 1972, and misuse of network facilities under Section 233 of the Communications and Multimedia Act 1998.
Previously, Badrul claimed that police raided his house while he was away.
He said the raid followed his Facebook posting that he possessed classified documents.
In April this year, Bardul was charged with publishing seditious material on social media regarding a purported casino project in Forest City, Johor.
