IPOH: Police arrested five male students today for allegedly assaulting a junior at a secondary school in the district.
Perak police chief Datuk Azizi Mat Aris said the 13-year-old victim lodged a report on Wednesday, claiming that he was beaten by Form Four and Form Five students at the school.
Azizi said the victim sustained injuries and received outpatient treatment at Raja Permaisuri Bainun Hospital.
"Following the report, police have arrested five students aged 16 and 17 today to facilitate the investigation.
"Further investigations will be carried out to determine the cause of the incident and to identify the other suspects in this case.
"The investigation is ongoing, and witness statements will also be recorded," he said, adding that the case is being investigated under Section 147 of the Penal Code.
He said the police viewed the incident seriously and urged the public to remain patient and adhere to the law.
