Teen who impersonated medical officer offered to help with surgery

SEPANG: The teenager who impersonated a hospital staff and even managed to find her way into an operating theatre at the Serdang Hospital looked older than she was.

District police chief Wan Kamarul Azran Wan Yusof said the girl's size and stature were large compared to an average teenager her age.

"The girl's parents have been contacted and are expected to come to the Sepang police headquarters at around 9pm tonight," he said when contacted on Thursday.

He said the 14-year-old suspect would be remanded to help with further investigations.

In a statement earlier today, Wan Kamarul said they received a report from hospital staff at around 1pm on Wednesday claiming that the girl who identified herself as a medical officer managed to get into an operating theatre.

"The girl told the staff that she wanted to assist with a surgery there.

"At around 8.30am on Thursday, hospital representatives realised that the same girl had attempted to register at the counter using a fake identity," he had said adding that hospital staff immediately contacted the police and the girl was arrested.

It was initially reported that a teenager had been arrested for allegedly posing as a Serdang Hospital staff member.

News of the teen's alleged act, which seemed to have gone viral in certain social media sites, claimed that the "impersonator" was just 14 years old.
