Cops seek man to assist in probe into blaze that claimed 3 lives

MUAR: Police are seeking the whereabouts of a man to assist in the investigation into a fire that claimed three lives in Kampung Paya Redan, Pagoh, early this morning.

The three who died in the fire were Mohamed Yassin, 82, his wife, Ara Abd Hamid, 76, and their granddaughter, Noradriana Nor Hisyam, 11.

Muar police chief Assistant Commissioner Raiz Mukhliz Azman Aziz said the couple's son Azman Mohamed, 48, was being sought to assist in the investigation.

Raiz said Azman was living with the victims at the house that was engulfed by flames in the pre-dawn blaze.

"We want Azman to come forward at any nearby police station to assist with the investigation," he said in a statement.

Another victim, Norazima Mohd Radhi, 14, who was Noradriana's sister, survived the blaze. She is receiving treatment at Sultanah Fatimah Specialist Hospital.

It is understood that Azman, who is also the uncle of the two siblings, is a bachelor.

At the time of the incident, the father of the teenagers, who works as a lorry driver, was delivering goods outside the area.

The two siblings had been living with their grandparents after their mother passed away about five years ago.
