Retired fireman charged with giving contradictory statement to MACC

KUALA TERENGGANU: A retired firefighter was brought before the Sessions Court here yesterday on three charges of giving contradictory evidence to the Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission (MACC) six years ago.

The accused, Abdul Hamid S Abdullah, 64 pleaded not guilty and requested to be tried for all the charges read before Judge Mohd Azhar Othman.

Based on the charges, Abdul Hamid is accused of giving evidence that contradicts the statement he gave earlier at the Terengganu MACC Office on Sept 27, 2018 on the ownership of three companies that supply walkie talkie spare parts, safety vests, suits and compasses.

He was charged with giving inconsistent evidence at the MACC Office Segamat Branch, Johor on Sept 7, 2021

The accused was charged in accordance with Section 27(1)(b) of the MACC Act 2009.
