KUALA LUMPUR: Perikatan Nasional chairman Tan Sri Muhyiddin Yassin has arrived at his office at the Malaysian Investment Development Authority (Mida) here at 10.30am, ahead of his 11am meeting with the police.
Bukit Aman investigators are expected to record a statement from Muhyiddin, who is Bersatu president, in connection with an investigation into a recent ceramah by the former prime minister.
Among Bersatu leaders present was deputy president Datuk Seri Ahmad Faizal Azumu.
Yesterday, police postponed the session to record Muhyiddin's statement due to the unavailability of his lawyer.
Inspector-General of Police Tan Sri Razarudin Husain when contacted said the session would be held today at 11am at the same location.
There are currently 30 reports lodged against Muhyiddin, involving investigations under Section 4(1) of the Sedition Act, Section 233 of the Communications and Multimedia Act, and Section 504 of the Penal Code.
A speech by Muhyiddin allegedly questioning the sovereignty of Al-Sultan Abdullah during his time as the 16th Yang di-Pertuan Agong had recently gone viral.
In his speech, he claimed he had the support of 115 members of Parliament after the 15th General Election and the King should have called him to be sworn in as the 10th prime minister.
On Monday, Tengku Mahkota of Pahang Tengku Hassanal Ibrahim Alam Shah Al-Sultan Abdullah Ri'ayatuddin Al-Mustafa Billah Shah expressed his anger and deep regret at the actions of Muhyiddin, who deliberately belittled and disputed the duties and role of the Al-Sultan Abdullah during his reign.
In a statement issued by Istana Abdulaziz, Tengku Hassanal wanted the police to take decisive action without compromise against the Perikatan Nasional chairman for touching on 3R issues (royalty, religion, and race).
On the same day, Muhyiddin posted a statement on social media, defending his allegedly contentious remarks made at a Nenggiri by-election ceramah.
The Pagoh MP said he would cooperate with police investigations to clarify his statement.
