IPOH: A police patrol car that was escorting a truck carrying criminals was badly damaged after a motorist rammed his Perodua Kelisa into it near a junction in Jalan Sultan Azlan Shah on Thursday.
District police chief Assistant Commissioner Abang Zainal Abidin Abang Ahmad said the corporal driving the patrol car sustained a cut to his left arm.
The Perodua Kelisa was also damaged but its driver, a 34-year-old man, was unhurt.
Abang Zainal said at the time of the accident, the patrol car which was escorting the truck from Menglembu to the Kg Rapat police lockup.
He said preliminary investigations indicated the patrol car's siren had been turned on and the driver had also raised his hand to stop vehicles coming from the left.
However, the Perodua Kelisa driver did not stop and rammed into the side of the police car.
While no arrests were made, the case is being probed under Section 43(1) of the Road Transport Act for driving without due care and attention.
Earlier, a dashcam video of the accident went viral.
