Malaysian travels 53,391 km in his Perodua Kelisa

KUALA LUMPUR: Malaysian adventurer Nursulhi Rahim, 47, has navigated many challenging experiences while traveling to nearly 25 countries in his trusty Perodua Kelisa with his son.

Since embarking on his journey on Jan 4, 2019, Nursulhi has faced life-threatening situations, including three incidents where snowstorms caused his vehicle to skid and crash in Sweden, Turkey, and Switzerland.

The contractor from Tampin, Negri Sembilan has travelled a staggering 53,391 kilometres, visiting countries such as Thailand, Myanmar, India, Pakistan, Sri Lanka, China, Bulgaria, Romania, Hungary, Croatia, Austria, Germany, Norway, Denmark, Spain, Greece, Switzerland, and Sweden.

In an interview with Harian Metro, Nursulhi recounted a nerve-wracking experience in India when he and his son were stranded in the jungle without any means of communication for three days during Eid al-Fitr.

"I have also driven on some of the most dangerous roads in the world. I feel incredibly grateful to have made it out of those situations," he said.

Nursulhi spent nearly six years saving money to fund his travels with his eldest son, Muhammad Aidil, 18.

To support his adventure, he worked in various construction jobs, including home renovations and cleaning services in the Bangi, Kuala Lumpur, and Damansara areas.

He has so far spent almost RM200,000 on internet service facilities and for his car maintenance throughout the travel period.

Regarding his choice of vehicle, the father of five said the Kelisa is the only car he owns and uses for his daily needs and his adventurous pursuits, including transporting construction materials.

"This story is not to seek sympathy, but just to show others that regardless of the vehicle you own, no matter how small it is, you can still travel the world.

"One does not need to be wealthy or have lots of money to be able to do what we are doing. All that matters is Allah's blessings," he said, adding that with passion, desire and determination anyone can achieve their dreams.
