Bus co-driver remanded in molestation case

KUALA LUMPUR: An express bus co-driver has been remanded on the suspicion of molesting a female passenger in an incident that allegedly occurred at the Chukai toll plaza in Kemaman last Friday.

Kemaman police chief Superintendent Hanyan Ramlan said to TV3 that the suspect, 28, was arrested in Kuala Terengganu at 5pm yesterday.

"The suspect has been remanded for three days starting today for further investigation under Section 354 of the Penal Code."

In the incident, a female bus passenger, 23, said she was molested by the bus driver.

The woman, who works as a sales assistant in Marang, Terengganu, said this happened on the upper deck of the bus while she was asleep.

It occurred around 11.40pm while the bus was travelling from Kuala Terengganu to Kuala Lumpur.

When the victim arrived at Terminal Bersepadu Selatan in Kuala Lumpur, she reported the incident to the Salak Selatan Baru police station at 4am on Saturday.
