RAUB: A food stall helper was seriously injured when he was slashed by a group of parang-wielding masked men at the premises along Jalan Lipis-Raub here on Tuesday (Oct 22).
The 28-year-old victim, who suffered cuts to his arm, is currently receiving treatment at Raub Hospital.
District police chief Superintendent Mohd Shahril Abdul Rahman said the premises owner lodged a police report the next day saying two vehicles had stopped in front of the food stall managed by his family about 11.40pm.
"Investigations revealed six men stepped out of a Honda Accord and a Honda CRV which was parked in front of the premises. All the masked men carried a parang and stormed into the restaurant.
"One of the suspects had injured a shop worker before they ran towards the car and fled the scene. The premises owner immediately took the injured victim to hospital and lodged a police report," he said in a statement.
Shahril said police were in the midst of gathering information to establish the motive of the attack and track down the suspects.
He said the case was being investigated under Section 148 of the Penal Code for rioting.
