KUALA SELANGOR: Foreign nationals have been detected setting up a 'colony' in the residential area and surroundings of Taman Perindustrian Alam Jaya, Bandar Puncak Alam.
This was evident when 684 foreign nationals were detained and checked during a joint operation from 6.30pm yesterday until midnight.
Kuala Selangor Police Chief, Deputy Superintendent Mohd Ambia Nordin, said that 94 foreigners were arrested for various offenses.
"Among those detained are 33 men and 2 women who were found to be overstaying in the country. They are being investigated under Section 15(1)(c) of the Immigration Act 1959/63 (Act 155)."
"Additionally, 46 men and 13 women were found to be in Malaysia without valid passes or permits, in violation of Section 6(1)(c) of the Immigration Act 1959/63 (Act 155)," he added.
The integrated operation involved the General Operations Force (PGA), the Immigration Department, the National Registration Department (NRD), and the Kuala Selangor Municipal Council (MPKS).
Mohd Ambia noted that all 94 detainees will be sent to the Shah Alam Immigration Office for documentation and further action.
He added that the team conducted nearly three weeks of surveillance before the raid, including on shop houses and apartments in the area.
"The local community has expressed discomfort with the large number of foreign nationals frequenting the area, causing concern," he said.
