KUALA LUMPUR: Police are looking for the van driver involved in a hit-and-run incident that left a motorcyclist injured at the Gombak toll exit along Jalan Lingkaran Tengah 2 (MRR2).
Gombak district police chief Assistant Commissioner Noor Ariffin Mohamad Nasir said they have identified a 1-minute-47-second video of the incident that went viral on social media.
The footage shows the van speeding and recklessly hitting the motorcyclist at the 14.7 km stretch of MRR2, causing her to lose control and fall.
He said the accident had occurred at around 11.50am on Aug 30.
"The victim, a 21-year-old woman was riding her motorcycle towards Sri Gombak when the van suddenly overtook her and struck the front of her motorcycle.
"She sustained injuries to her right hand, leg, shoulder, chin, and chest and received treatment at a clinic," he said in a statement.
Efforts to trace the van driver are ongoing. The case is being investigated under the Road Transport Act 1987 for reckless driving.
Ariffin called for eyewitnesses or anyone with information regarding the driver's whereabouts to come forward.
