KUALA LUMPUR: Three members of Geng Tongkol, who allegedly committed pre-dawn break-ins and trespassing into schools last month, claimed trial to multiple charges at separate magistrates' courts, here, today.
The trio were car park supervisor Mohammad Daniel Mohd Nadzri, parcel delivery rider Saidina Abdul Hamid, both aged 20, and cake seller Muhammad Syafiq Mohd Nadzri, 18.
The trio were charged with three counts of criminal trespass into schools before magistrates M.S. Arunjothy and Illi Marisqa Khalizan.
They allegedly committed the offences at Sekolah Menengah Kebangsaan Taman Bukit Maluri Kepong, Sekolah Kebangsaan Taman Bukit Maluri and Sekolah Rendah Agama Raja Muda Musa between 4.30am on Aug 13 and 2.14am on Aug 16.
Before magistrate, Amira Abd Aziz, Saidina and Syafiq were charged with breaking into Sekolah Siraj Abu Dzar Al Ghifari and stealing RM750 cash belonging to Mohammad Fikry Aziz Abu Shedek, 31, at 2.14am on Aug 6.
The charges under Section 441 of the Penal Code for criminal trespass are punishable under Section 447 read with Section 34 and carry a maximum six-month jail term or a fine of up to RM3,000 or both.
The offence under Section 457 of the same code for break-in, read with Section 34, carries a maximum five-year jail term and a fine.
They face a 14-year jail term and a fine if found guilty of theft.
The courts imposed RM9,300 bail each on Saidina and Syafiq and RM7,300 for Daniel. The courts set Oct 28, Nov 5 and 6 for mention.
Deputy public prosecutors Vivi Asnita Zainal'arifin, Izzat Amir Idham and Vivien Yeap prosecuted. The accused were represented by National Legal Aid Foundation lawyers Tan Wei Meng, Simret Singh and Nicholas Cheoh.
Sentul police chief Assistant Commissioner Ahmad Sukarno Mohd Zahari had previously said four men, aged between 18 and 20, were arrested in Bukit Jalil and Batu Caves on Aug 20.
He said they were believed to be linked to several cases of school break-ins.
Sukarno said police seized four sets of clothes used by the suspects when committing the crimes, a handphone, five helmets, RM1,300 cash and a motorcycle.
