Police confirm attempted abduction of 9-year-old in Bukit Beruntung

HULU SELANGOR: Police have confirmed an alleged attempted abduction involving a nine-year-old girl in Bukit Beruntung.

Deputy district police chief DSP Mohd Asri Mohd Yunus said the young girl was waiting for her school van under the block of her residence when an unknown woman reportedly tried to abduct her.

"The child managed to escape to a nearby shop and cried out for help," he said in a statement.

A bystander at the scene intervened and rescued the child. However, the suspect fled when the bystander attempted to detain her.

The incident occurred on Sept 13, with a police report lodged by the victim's mother at Bukit Sentosa police station at approximately 8.56pm.

Police have classified the case under Section 363 and 511 of the Penal Code, which, if found guilty, could lead to imprisonment up to seven years and fines.

Parents have been urged to remain vigilant and avoid leaving their children unattended outside their homes.

"This could create opportunities for criminals," Asri warned.

He also called on the public to provide any information to assist in the investigation by visiting the nearest police station or contacting the Hulu Selangor police headquarters at 03-60641223.

Police are continuing their search for the suspect, and investigations are ongoing.
