KUALA LUMPUR: Police have arrested a 47-year-old man for owning a Styer GB 9mm gun on Thursday (July 18).
Hulu Selangor deputy police chief Deputy Superintendent Mohd Asri Mohd Yunus said the arrest of the man was made following a report lodged by his 42-year-old wife.
He said the suspect and the wife had been in constant argument for four years.
"The suspect's wife made a report on July 18 and following this, police raided the house and found the Styer gun with 18 live bullets," he said in a statement.
Mohd Asri said the wife informed the police that their child realised the suspect possessed a pistol when taking pocket money out of the man's bag.
He also said the urine test conducted on the suspect was negative, and he had no criminal record.
"The suspect has been remanded for seven days from July 19 to 26."
He said the case is being investigated under Section 8 of the Firearms (Increased Penalties) Act 1971 for unlawful possession of a firearm.
