KUALA LUMPUR: Two men have been charged for advertising prostitution services on Telegram.
The duo, Ahmad Muzakker Aiman Ruziman, 25, and Mohammad Fariz Ikmal Azhar, 23, were charged separately at the Sessions Court here.
Both pleaded not guilty.
Muzakker is accused of advertising prostitution services via Telegram under the name "Lyana Ratu Spa Trusted" while Fariz is accused of doing so under the name "Datin_Uzawa199".
They were charged under Section 372 (1) (e) of the Penal Code for advertising prostitution which carries a maximum 15-year jail sentence, caning and a fine upon conviction.
Separately, both men were charged in the Magistrate's Court for possessing pornographic material, an offence under Section 292 of the Penal Code. They both pleaded not guilty.
If found guilty, they face a maximum three-year jail sentence or a fine or both.
Bail was set at RM12,000 for Muzzakker and RM7,500 for Fariz.
The courts set Oct 21 and 22, as well as Nov 11 for case remention.
Prosecution was handled by deputy public prosecutors, Joshua Tee, Muhammad Zulhilmi Latif, Nidzuwan Abd Latip and Nur Shakila Mohd Shariff.
The accused were represented by Tripat Singh and Suriati Che Ariffin.
