Cops open fire after being rammed by suspected burglars

BANTING: Police here opened fire on three suspects who attempted to ram into them following a pursuit.

The suspects were believed to be responsible for a house break-in at Telok Panglima Garang.

Kuala Langat police chief Superintendent Ahmad Ridhwan Mohd Nor said they received a call from a man who claimed his neighbours house had been broken into by unknown suspects around 2.40pm on Friday.

"We immediately sent policemen to the scene to investigate.

"They arrived at the scene and the suspects rammed into policeman's motorcycle when he tried to block the suspect's vehicle in the middle of the road," he said in a statement on Monday.,

He said police fired one shot at the suspect's vehicle tyre but they managed to escape

"We believe three suspects were involved in house break-ins in the area.

"No one was injured in the incident," he said adding that they have opened investigations for attempted murder.

He said they were now working on tracking down the suspects involved.

Several videos believed to be closed-circuit television footage from one of the houses show the men climbing over a wall to break into a house.

One of the suspects was carrying an object believed to be bolt cutters.

They can be seen entering the house from a window and exiting after some time.

The men who were wearing jackets and ski masks were also confronted by neighbours at the scene shortly before they fled.
