KUALA LUMPUR: The male prisoner who escaped while receiving treatment at Sungai Buloh Hospital, Selangor on Sept 18, was rearrested today.
The Prisons Department in a statement today said the remand prisoner was detained by department officers at 11am at the Rapid Kuantan bus terminal, Pahang.
"The arrest was made following investigations and information received from the public.
"The prisoner was then handed over to the police for further investigation," it said.
The department said the investigations board will take strict action against anyone found negligent in their duties that led to the prisoner's escape.
"The Prisons Department would also like to express its appreciation and gratitude to the public and any party that helped with this search," it said.
