SUNGAI PETANI: Kedah police have conducted raids and inspections on premises linked to GISB Holdings (GISB) across three districts in the state, as part of a broader operation against deviant teachings.
Kedah police chief Datuk Fisol Salleh said that the raids in Kubang Pasu, Kuala Muda, and Kulim were carried out under phase four of Op Global, following orders from Inspector-General of Police Tan Sri Razarudin Husain.
The operation seeks to gather evidence related to the Aurad Muhammadiyah sect and the Al-Arqam group, which were declared deviant in 1994.
"Our team has conducted several inspections. Some premises were found closed, while others remain operational. No arrests involving GISB members have been made during the operation so far. All investigation reports have been submitted to Bukit Aman for further action," Fisol said during a press conference at the Kuala Muda District Police Headquarters today.
Meanwhile, checks in Kubang Pasu and Alor Star revealed that all GISB-linked business premises had closed down.
Since the launch of Op Global earlier this month, over 300 individuals, including GISB's top management, have been detained, 572 victims rescued, and seven individuals charged in court on 29 counts.
