Company director claims trial to misappropriation

BUTTERWORTH: A company director was charged at the Sessions Court here today with two counts of misappropriation involving RM32,000 of the Penjana Kerjaya 2.0 financial aid three years ago.

Koay Chin Eng, 63, claimed trial to both charges read to him by the court interpreter before judge Zulhazmi Abdullah.

On the first count, Koay is alleged to have misused the Social Security Organisation (Socso) asset for himself, which was cash totalling RM21,500, meant for the Penjana Kerjaya 2.0 financial aid.

He allegedly committed the offence at the RHB Bank Berhad in Sungai Bakap on Sept 2, 2021.

On the second count, Koay is alleged to have misused the Socso asset for himself, which was cash totalling RM10,500, meant for the Penjana Kerjaya 3.0 financial aid.

He allegedly committed the offence at the RHB Bank Berhad in Sungai Bakap on Feb 24, 2022.

He was charged under Section 403 of the Penal Code.

The Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission prosecuting officer Noor Azura Zulkiflee prosecuted while Koay was represented by Datuk Seri Ramli Yusuff and Datuk Dzaamoddin Salleh.

Zulhazmi set bail at RM15,000 with one surety for each of the charge.

"The accused is also to surrender his passport to the court until the end of the case.

"He is also to report himself once a month at the nearest MACC office," he said.

Zulhazmi fixed Nov 8 for mention.
