TAWAU: Three boys were arrested on suspicion of gang-raping an underage girl last Thursday.
District deputy police chief Superintendent Champin Piuh today said the three suspects, aged 12 to 14, who are acquaintances of the victim, were arrested on Friday.
He said the arrests were made following a report lodged by the victim's mother.
"The investigation found that the rape allegedly happened in a garden near a village here about 9pm on Thursday.
"The three school dropouts are acquaintances of the victim and live in the same village as the victim."
Champin said two suspects were locals while the other did not have identification documents
He said the suspects were remanded in custody for five days until Wednesday.
