Nepalese man arrested for allegedly dumping newborn

TAIPING: A 34-year-old Nepalese man was arrested for allegedly dumping a newborn near Sungai Larut, Simpang on Wednesday.

District police chief Assistant Commissioner Mohamad Nasir Ismail said police received a report from Taiping Hospital at 3.32am on the same day.

Nasir said the report stated that a Cambodian woman had delivered a baby and claimed that her newborn had died, but she did not bring the baby with her.

"Following this, a team of police managed to arrest the Nepalese man within 24 hours. He later showed where he had dumped the baby girl, which was near Sungai Larut, Simpang," he said yesterday.

Nasir said an investigation paper has been opened under Section 318 of the Penal Code.
