MIRI: A 48-year-old man died after he was run over by two vehicles during an accident in Jalan Lopeng here on Saturday, reports said.
According to The Borneo Post, the victim succumbed to severe head injuries and died at the scene in the 7.50pm accident.
District police chief Assistant Commissioner Alexson Naga Chabu said the victim was riding pillion with another man when he fell off the motorcycle before he landed on the opposite lane of the road.
The victim was run over by an oncoming vehicle, which did not stop after hitting the man.
Alexson said the victim was then run over by a second car.
"The victim was pronounced dead by a team of medical officers deployed to the scene.
"The motorcycle rider as well as the driver of the second car escaped the accident unharmed," he said.
Alexson added that the case is being investigated under Section 41(1) of the Roard Transport Act 1987 for causing death due to reckless or dangerous driving.
