GOF seizes Thai health products worth over RM10,000

RANTAU PANJANG: Kelantan buyers' high demand for health products from Thailand has prompted smugglers to turn to the products as their latest source of income.

In the latest case, the General Operations Force (GOF) seized several boxes containing more than RM10,000 worth of such products in an operation here yesterday (Oct 8).

However, GOF Southeast Brigade Commander Datuk Nik Ros Azhan Nik Ab Hamid said no one was arrested in the operation.

He said GOF personnel were conducting Op Taring Wawasan Kelantan when they saw several men acting suspiciously at the Yassin illegal jetty.

"The team spotted several individuals near the illegal jetties. The men, however, escaped into the nearby bushes when officers approached the location.

"The officers then found the boxes which were abandoned near the jetty and were filled with health products of various brands," he said in a statement.

He added that the case is being investigated under Section 18A(1) Control Of Drugs and Cosmetics Regulations 1984.
