Driver who crashed into 4 UiTM students remanded for four days [WATCH]

KUALA TERENGGANU: A 49-year-old woman, believed to be mentally ill, has been remanded for four days starting today after she crashed into two motorcycles, resulting in the deaths of three Universiti Teknologi Mara (UiTM) students at Jalan Pantai, yesterday.

Magistrate Nur Amira Fatihah Osman granted the remand order at the Kuala Terengganu magistrate's court today.

The suspect, who was driving a SUV at the time of the incident, is being investigated under Section 41(1) of the Road Transport Act 1987.

She was brought to court wearing purple prison attire around 9am.

Earlier, Terengganu deputy police chief Datuk Wan Rukman Wan Hassan said the accident occurred around 7.35pm yesterday.

The woman, driving the SUV, crashed into two motorcycles carrying four students who were on their way back to campus.

The three victims who died were Ku Adib Aizad Ku Azmi and Khairil Anwar Jamaludin, both 20, and Muhammad Akmal Md Tukirin, 25.

"All three victims died at the scene," he said.

Another injured victim, Muhammad Ammar Danish Mohd. Ridhuan, 20, was rushed to Dungun Hospital for further treatment.
