5 held over cable theft at industrial park

KUALA LUMPUR: Police arrested five people over cable theft at Hicom Glenmarie Industrial Park, Shah Alam, early yesterday (Oct 11).

Shah Alam district police chief Assistant Commissioner Mohd Iqbal Ibrahim said three men and two women, aged between 24 and 47, were arrested.

"On Oct 11 about 4.30am, a police team from Bukit Jelutong spotted two suspicious vehicles at the industrial park.

"The found five people in the vehicles. They searched the cars and found Telekom Malaysia cables along with tools used for cutting cables."

Iqbal said the suspects included a lorry driver, a factory operator and three unemployed people.

He added that urine tests revealed that two of the suspects had tested positive for drugs.

He said police had remanded them into custody.
