Year One pupil injured after being hit by vehicle in Rawang

KUALA LUMPUR: A Year One pupil was injured after being hit by a four-wheel-drive vehicle driven by a foreigner in Bukit Sentosa, Rawang, last Thursday.

Hulu Selangor district police chief Superintendent Ahmad Faizal Tahrim said the 7-year-old boy was about to cross the road before he was hit by the vehicle in the 6.15pm incident.

"Upon getting off the school van, the victim was said to have headed to the back of the van to cross the road before being hit by the vehicle, resulting in a broken left leg," he said in a statement here today.

Ahmad Faizal said the victim was sent to Kuala Kubu Bharu Hospital for treatment.

The driver of the vehicle, a 46-year-old woman, did not sustain any injuries.

He added that the case is being investigated under Section 43(1) of the Road Transport Act 1987 for careless and inconsiderate driving.

Ahmad Faizal also called on the public to come forward with any information that could assist the police in their investigation into the incident.
