Police on the hunt for main suspect in Pakistani man's murder

GEORGE TOWN: Police are hunting for the main suspect in connection with yesterday's murder case involving a Pakistani man in Pulau Tikus here.

Northeast district acting police chief Superintendent Lee Swee Sake said eight people, including a woman, have been detained to so far.

He said the suspects - aged 22 to 58, will be remanded today.

"We are now hunting for the main suspect, who is still at large," he said.

It was reported that a man from Pakistan was killed after being stabbed in Pulau Tikus about 5pm yesterday.

The 48-year-old victim died while seeking treatment at a clinic on Jalan Datuk Keramat.

Lee said initial investigation revealed the victim was involved in a commotion with the main suspect at a shop when he was stabbed with a screw driver.

The suspect fled after the incident.

It is learnt that the main suspect was passing by the shop when the commotion occured.
