TAWAU: A disagreement is believed to be the cause of a man being attacked in Kampung Kurnia Jaya Batu 4, Jalan Apas, here yesterday.
At around 7.30am, the 50-year-old victim was having breakfast at a stall near his house when he was attacked by a man known to him with a 55cm machete.
The victim had to be given seven stitches when he was sent to hospital for treatment.
District police chief Assistant Commissioner Jasmin Hussin said they received a report from the victim's son, and the suspect was arrested around noon.
Preliminary investigations revealed that the suspect was a 30-year-old Indonesian with an expired passport.
"The victim, who sustained injury on his right arm, was sent to the hospital and received seven stitches before being discharged.
"Police also confiscated a long machete believed to have been used in the incident," he said in a statement today.
Jasmin added that further investigations were ongoing, and the case was being investigated under Section 324 of the Penal Code and Section 15(1)(c) of the Immigration Act 1959/63.
