KUALA LUMPUR: The Malaysian Bar expressed deep sadness over the passing of its former president, Manjeet Singh Dhillon, today.
Its president Mohamad Ezri Abdul Wahab said Manjeet's dedication to the legal fraternity over the past half-century has been an inspiration to many.
"It is with deep sadness that I extend my heartfelt condolences on the passing of Manjeet, a revered past president of the Malaysian Bar.
"As a dedicated member of the legal fraternity for nearly half a century, his greatness, humility, and passion have been a source of inspiration to many, including myself, in ways he may not have even realised.
"His passing is a tremendous loss to the legal community.
"My thoughts and deepest sympathies are with his family, loved ones, and all who had the privilege of knowing him," he said when contacted.
Manjeet died today at his home in Bukit Damansara at the age of 82.
He was previously involved in various high-profile cases with one of the more recent ones involving the death sentence appeal by those involved in the murder of cosmetics millionaire Datuk Solisawati Lawiya and her three aids in 2010.
The prominent lawyer was also involved in representing political analyst Abdul Razak Baginda in the RM100 million suit filed by the late Altantuya Shaariibuu's family over her death.
He led the Bar as president from 1991 to 1992.
