ALOR GAJAH: The body of a woman was found lying face down on Tanjung Bidara Beach in Masjid Tanah, yesterday.
District police chief Superintendent Ashari Abu Samah said police received a call regarding the discovery of the body at 7.25am and a team of policemen were dispatched to the scene for further investigation.
According to him, the victim, aged 40, was from Kampung Londang and is believed to have drowned near a chalet at the location.
"Checks at the chalet revealed that the victim checked in alone last Sunday.
"Family members informed the police that the victim often travelled alone.
"Additionally, examination of the victim's body found no signs of foul play, and no personal belongings were reported missing," he said to the media.
He further mentioned that a police investigation found the victim's slippers, hoodie, and chalet keys on the stone embankment.
"The case has been classified as a sudden death, and the body has been sent to the Forensic Unit of the Alor Gajah Hospital for a post-mortem examination to determine the cause of death," he said.
