Fined RM1K for threatening sister with knife – over a phone charger

BATU PAHAT: An unemployed man was fined RM1,000 by the magistrate's court here after pleading guilty to threatening his younger sister with a knife following an argument over the use of a phone charger two days ago.

Magistrate Nurasidah A. Rahman meted out the fine, in default two months' jail, on Muhamad Aiman Zamree, 22, who was charged with criminal intimidation under Section 506 of the Penal Code.

Under the section, Aiman was liable to a prison sentence of up to seven years or a fine, or both.

The offence was committed at a house in Senggarang, near here, at 7.30am on Monday.

According to the facts of the case, the accused had borrowed his 20-year-old sister's phone charger on Sunday.

When his sister was about to go to work on the day of the incident, she asked for the charger to be returned but Aiman became angry.

An argument ensued between the siblings, following which the accused grabbed a knife and threatened his sister.

Afraid for her life, the sister ran out of the house and lodged a report at the Senggarang police station.

Police arrested Aiman the same day.

Aiman was represented by Tan Song Yan of the National Legal Aid Foundation while prosecution was handled by deputy public prosecutor Farah Wahidah Mohd Sharip.
