Police raid unlicensed entertainment centres, arrest 45 foreigners in Op Noda

KUALA LUMPUR: A total of 45 foreigners were among 48 people arrested when the police raided two entertainment centres in the state under Op Noda recently.

Selangor police chief Datuk Hussein Omar Khan said the premises were raided following investigations and intelligence gatherings by the state Anti-Vice, Gaming and Secret Societies Division (D7).

In the first operation, Hussein said the police arrested a local man and 24 foreigners when the team raided a shophouse in Desa Aman Puri here at 11.30pm on Oct 31.

"The raiding party also seized a laptop, entertainment equipment as well as RM528," he said in a statement.

Hussein added that those arrested were initially remanded for four days, with the remand for the local individual extended by an additional.

"All foreigners arrested during the raid were placed under immigration remand for 14 days," he added.

In the second operation, Hussein said two locals and 21 foreigners were arrested when police raided a shophouse in the Puchong Utama Industrial Park, Puchong, at 11.30pm on Nov 1.

He added that the raiding party also seized several pieces of equipment as well as RM175 during the raid.

"The local suspects were released on police bail after they were remanded for a day while the foreigners were placed under immigration remand for 14 days," he said.

Hussein also said both entertainment centres were found to be operating without a licence and are under police investigation for legal action against the owners and managers of these businesses.
