28 illegal immigrants detained in Gua Musang operations

GUA MUSANG: The state Immigration Department yesterday detained 28 illegal immigrants for entering the country without permission and overstaying.

Its deputy director (management), Nik Akhtarulhaq Nik Abdul Rahman, said the illegal immigrants were detained during a two-day operation at several premises across the state.

Nik Akhtarulhaq added that all those arrested were men from Indonesia, Bangladesh, and Myanmar.

"The operation, which started around 2pm on Wednesday, was conducted at several premises in three areas within this district.

"The locations were Kampung Jerek Bertam, Ladang Blau, and Meranto," he added.

"He said the operation was conducted following public tip-offs about the presence of illegal immigrants in the area."

He added that the illegal immigrants, aged between 19 and 50, have been sent to the department's detention camp in Tanah Merah for further action.
