Johor immigration detains 50 illegal immigrants, foreign burger sellers

JOHOR BARU: State immigration enforcement officers detained 50 undocumented foreigners in a raid in Senai early this morning.

Its director Datuk Mohd Rusdi Mohd Darus said the operation, code named "Ops Jaja' was targeted at migrants who ran businesses without permits and those who had overstayed.

Officers inspected 94 people and 50 were detained after they were found to have violated immigration regulations.

The detainees, aged between 19 and 55, comprised 15 Myanmar men and 32 women, two Nepalese men, and an Indonesian man.

Also detained was a Myanmar woman who allegedly harboured the illegal immigrants.

Meanwhile, seven foreign burger sellers were detained in separate raids in city centre here last night.

Eight people comprising foreigners and Malaysians, were inspected during the operation.

Seven foreigners were detained including three Bangladeshi men, an Indonesian man and woman, a female Myanmar national and a male Indian national aged between 25 and 45.
