Woman arrested for smuggling motorcycle engines

RANTAU PANJANG: A woman was arrested last night for possessing four sets of smuggled motorcycle engines worth RM20,000.

The 25-year-old woman was travelling in Perodua Myvi when detained at Yasin illegal jetty.

General Operations Force Southeast Brigade commander Datuk Nik Ros Azhan Nik Abdul Rahman said the GOF personnel spotted the woman at the jetty about 7pm.

"After checking her car, they found four motorcycle engines and later arrested her," he said.

He said the engines were believed to be smuggled in from Thailand and believed for the local market.

In a separate case, a man was detained for smuggling a motorcycle using a boat at the same jetty last night, he said.

"The 22-year-old suspect parked the Yamaha RXZ on the boat before crossing the Golok river.

"He was detained soon after he arrived at the riverbank about 7.15pm," he said.
