CHUKAI: A police officer pleaded not guilty in the Kemaman Sessions Court today to stealing a Yamaha RXZ motorcycle engine in July.
Corporal Faris Zahim Farizan, 32, attached to the Chukai Police Station, entered his plea after the charge was read before judge Wan Suhaila Mohd.
According to the charge, Faris was accused of stealing a motorcycle engine belonging to a woman on July 20.
The alleged offence took place between 12.45am and 1.15am beside the Traffic Investigation Officer's office building at the Kemaman Police Headquarters.
Charged under Section 379A(1) of the Penal Code, Faris could be jailed up to seven years and fined if found guilty.
Wan Suhaila allowed the accused to be released on a RM800 bail with a surety and set Nov 27 for case mention at the Kemaman magistrate's court.
The prosecution is being handled by Inspector Muhammad Afif Mohd Amir, while the accused is represented by lawyer Masliela Ismail.
