KOTA KINABALU: A security guard at a school here was sentenced to six years in prison for two counts of non-physical sexual assault on a 13-year-old student.
The 50-year-old man had asked the student to make a nude video and send it to him.
Sessions Court judge Amir Shah Amir Hassan imposed three years jail for each charge and ordered the jail term to be run consecutively.
The man was also ordered to be placed under police supervision for two years upon completing his jail sentence.
The offences took place on Nov 19 and Nov 20 in Papar district.
Both offences were committed under Section 15(a)(ii) of the Sexual Offences Against Children Act 2017 which carries a jail term of up to 10 years or a fine of up to RM20,000, or both, upon conviction.
The case came to light when a Form Four student accidentally saw inappropriate messages between the man and the victim on a handphone.
Further investigation led to the arrest of the man on Nov 22.
Deputy public prosecutor Nurul Shafeerah Mad Iskim prosecuted while the accused was unrepresented.
