Ex-convict with 18 prior offences arrested for attempted robbery

MUAR: A 26-year-old former convict was arrested yesterday for his alleged involvement in an attempted robbery and mischief at a house in Tangkak here.

District police chief Assistant Commissioner Raiz Mukhliz Azman Aziz said the suspect, who has 18 prior criminal records, allegedly confessed to committing multiple robberies and acts of mischief in the Muar and Tangkak areas.

The suspect, who also has a history of drug-related offences, was remanded for four days to assist in further investigations.

His modus operandi involved using a crowbar and other tools to tamper with doors to gain entry.

In the cases of mischief, he is suspected of causing damage to the houses.

Raiz Mukhliz said that the suspect's arrest was believed to be a breakthrough in solving several related cases in the district.
