2 arrested in Kluang as cops seize ecstasy worth RM1.1 million

KLUANG: Police arrested two men and seized RM1.1 million worth of drugs in a raid in Taman Permata, here, on Dec 10.

District police chief Assistant Commissioner Bahrin Mohd Noh said the men, both aged 26, also tested positive for drugs after being arrested during the 10am raid on a house.

Narcotics Crime Investigation Department police, he said, found a substantial cache of suspected ecstasy powder and pills.

Police seized packets of powder disguised in packaging labelled with various beverage brands, including milk tea, apple iced tea and calamansi.

Police also confiscated two vehicles worth RM13,000, and RM600 found in the house.

Both suspects had prior drug-related and criminal records.

The two were remanded for seven days to facilitate investigations under Section 39B of the Dangerous Drugs Act 1952 for trafficking, which carries a death sentence or life imprisonment upon conviction.
