TANGKAK: A 44-year-old man and his girlfriend's alleged crime spree came to an end after they were arrested on Tuesday for their suspected involvement in 17 house break-ins across the district.
The man, along with the 25-year-old woman, was arrested at a rented house here at 7.15pm on Dec 10.
It is believed that the couple's modus operandi involved climbing electricity poles to access the rooftops of their targeted houses, gaining entry before fleeing with loot, usually cash and valuables.
District police chief Superintendent Roslan Mohd Talib said police also seized items several items including RM11,795, pawn receipts, and receipts for items believed to have been purchased with their ill-gotten gains to facilitate investigations into the case.
"Preliminary investigations showed the couple targeted homes when its occupants were away.
"Both have 17 prior records for housebreaking and theft," Roslan told reporters here today.
Roslan said the couple has been remanded for eight days to facilitate investigations into the case for housebreaking.
