KUALA LUMPUR: Three premises where gambling activities had previously been detected had their electricity supply cut again today.
Wangsa Maju police chief Assistant Commissioner Mohamad Lazim Ismail said a team of police officers from the anti-vice, gambling and secret societies division, together with Tenaga Nasional Bhd personnel, were involved in the operation between 10.30am and 12.30pm.
"The premises had previously been involved in illegal gambling and 4D betting activities.
"The cases were investigated under Section 4A(a) and Section 4B(a) of the Common Gaming Houses Act 1953," he said.
He added that the electricity supply was cut based on legal provisions under Section 21A of the same act.
"Inspector Darlveen Singh Teja Singh led the operations on three premises at Jalan Ampang, Taman Sri Rampai and Taman Danau Kota," he said.
Checks revealed the first premise at Jalan Ampang was a snooker centre where an individual had also been selling online gambling top-up tokens.
The two other premises were sundry shops where the workers were also offering illegal betting activities.
