PETALING JAYA: Police have called on the victim of a recent road rage incident involving a motorcyclist making obscene gestures to come forward and assist with investigations.
District police chief Assistant Commissioner Shahrulnizam Ja'afar said efforts are underway to identify and apprehend the perpetrator, whose actions were captured in a 29-second video that has gone viral on social media.
He said the district police headquarters this morning detected a 29-second video circulating on the social media platform Facebook.
The video shows a motorcyclist making lewd gestures and shouting at a car driver near the Jalan PJS 8/5 exit ramp in Sunway Mentari.
"A police report has been lodged (by someone other than the victim) regarding this incident. We urge the victim involved to step forward and assist in the investigation," Shahrulnizam said in a statement.
He also called for the public to avoid actions that could endanger lives, damage property or jeopardise public safety.
Witnesses to the incident or those with relevant information should lodge a report at the nearest police station or contact police at 03-79662222.
