KUALA LUMPUR: A driver experienced a nerve-wracking moment when a rogue motorcyclist suddenly swerved in front of his car and hurled a hammer at it.
In a video that has since gone viral shared by X user @update11111, captured on the driver's dashcam, the shocking incident occurred on Aug 18 at 12.38pm, if the time stamp on the clip is correct.
The footage shows the motorcyclist overtaking the car, which was in the middle lane, before sharply cutting in front and brandishing a hammer.
He then appears to throw the hammer, seemingly targeting the car.
The driver managed to avoid the hammer just in time but was left shaken by the motorcyclist's behaviour.
The motorcyclist sped off immediately after the incident.
The video has sparked a flurry of speculation online, with netizens divided over the cause of the incident.
Some believe it was part of a towing scam, while others argue the driver may have caused the reaction from the motorcyclist.
One user, @a_gummym0chi, suggested that the incident was a deliberate scheme to force the driver into using towing services.
"It's all part of their plan. If they cause an accident, they can profit from the towing fees. I had a friend who worked as a tow truck operator, and he told me there are groups involved in these sorts of schemes," the user claimed.
Another user, @blckfolks, speculated that the driver might have accidentally entered the motorcyclist's lane, prompting such an extreme reaction.
