Police probe road rage attack on vehicle near Gleneagles hospital

KUALA LUMPUR: Police are investigating a road rage incident that damaged a vehicle near Gleneagles hospital in the early hours of Tuesday (Nov 26).

Wangsa Maju district police chief, Assistant Commissioner Mohamad Lazim Ismail, said a police report was lodged at 1.41am by a 45-year-old local man.

"The victim, driving a Proton Wira, alleged that a Perodua Axia attempted to enter his lane, forcing him to honk as a warning to avoid a collision. The situation escalated when both vehicles stopped at a traffic light near the hospital. The driver of the Perodua Axia reportedly exited their vehicle, punched the Proton Wira's right-hand side mirror, and kicked the left door, leaving it dented and causing the mirror to shatter," he said in a statement.

As such, Lazim said, the case has been classified under Section 427 of the Penal Code for causing mischief leading to damages and is currently under investigation. He also urged anyone with information about the incident to come forward to assist in the investigation.

Earlier, videos of the altercation went viral on social media platforms.
