Policewoman arrested after testing positive for drugs in New Year's raid

KUALA LUMPUR: A policewoman has been arrested after testing positive for amphetamines, methamphetamines, ketamine, and benzodiazepines.

She was detained following a police raid at an entertainment outlet along Jalan Tun Razak on New Year's Day.

Wangsa Maju police chief Assistant Commissioner Mohamad Lazim Ismail said the raid was part of the New Year's operations conducted around 2am on Jan 1.

"The 26-year-old woman, a rank-and-file personnel, was on holiday and was scheduled to report for duty with the Johor police contingent," he said, adding that the suspect was taken to the district police headquarters.

He said initial screenings revealed the suspect tested positive for amphetamines, methamphetamines, ketamine, and benzodiazepines.

"We have opened investigations under Section 15(1) of the Dangerous Drugs Act 1952.

"We obtained a two-day remand order for the suspect to facilitate further investigations," he said.

Information about the arrest has been circulating on social media.
