KUALA LUMPUR: Police arrested eight individuals, including four private university students, during a raid on illegal gambling last night (Nov 2).
Selangor Police Chief Datuk Hussein Omar Khan said that the operation, conducted by the Federal Anti-Vice, Gambling, and Secret Societies Division (D7) at 12.30am, was based on gathered intelligence.
The detained individuals, aged between 20 and 27, included six men and two women.
"Investigations revealed that four of the suspects were university students, while the others worked as salespeople.
"Police confiscated RM1,700 in cash, along with poker chips and a poker table," he said.
Hussein said the suspects were taken to the Subang Jaya police headquarters for further action.
The case is being investigated under Section 6 (1) of the Common Gaming Houses Act 1953.
